ADSL

Gone broadband, with ADSL from Pipex. The deal was hard to ignore; £24 a month, and no activation charge. I bought an Alcatel Speedtouch 510 ADSL 4 port router switch to act as gateway to the LAN. It provides DNS, DHCP, NAT and kitchen sink. The Speedtouch has a LAN side address of 10.0.0.138, so I decided to change my network addresses to the same class A scheme. I stopped using crimson as the DHCP server, and made all the machines in the network (all two) DHCP clients. The default domain name provided by the Speedtouch is "lan", which I left untouched.
